London Theatre Weekly Round-up: Disney’s Frozen heads to London, The Illusionists Return, and more!

We hope your Christmas was merry and bright! Now, all we need is a little Elsa magic for a White Christmas! Stay tuned on that…. Here’s the latest scoop on the London theatre scene.

Frozen is coming to London in 2020. After its popular, Tony-nominated run on Broadway, Frozen will open at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in 2020. No opening date or casting details have been announced yet.

Jack McBrayer will play Ogie in the West End production of WaitressMcBrayer is best known for starring alongside Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin in 30 Rock from 2006 to 2013, for which he received an Emmy nomination for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series. He also voices Fix-It Felix in Wreck-It Ralph, along with characters in Despicable Me and The Simpsons. McBrayer will make his West End debut in Waitress–starring alongside Katharine McPhee, Marisha Wallace, Laura Baldwin, and others.

After opening last week, Caroline, or Change is swimming in five-star reviews. The Financial Times calls it “a thrilling revival,” and the Evening Standard notes that it’s “nothing short of a triumph.” It’s currently playing through 9 February!

The Illusionists will return to London’s Shaftesbury Theatre in July 2019. This show, last seen in London in 2015, showcases the talents of world-famous magicians–performing acts of levitation, mind-reading, and mind-boggling illusions.
