It’s official, London is sweltering. With the sun set to scorch for at least the next couple of weeks, it can be hard to picture yourself doing anything other than slapping on the suncream and eating all the ice lollies you can get your hands on. If, like us, you’d still prefer to be out and about in the city, we’ve compiled a handy list of the top shows that you can go and enjoy in the comfort of an air conditioned theatre.
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

A new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s multi-award winning musical has landed in the London Palladium for a strictly limited summer run. No need to worry about feeling the Egyptian heat – the London Palladium has air conditioning to keep you cooler than a dip in the Nile. Book tickets now from £24.
The Comedy About A Bank Robbery

Fast-paced and riotously hilarious, The Comedy About A Bank Robbery masterfully unites screw-ball comedy with real theatrical invention, and is guaranteed to have you rolling in the aisles. With air conditioning in the Criterion, it’ll be tears of laughter wetting your face, not sweat! Book tickets from just £11.80.

The record-breaking and top-rated television series Only Fools and Horses is now also a smash-hit, five star West End musical! Join Del Boy, Rodney and Grandad in this brilliant adaptation of the classic sitcom and cool off with the coolest guys that Peckham has to offer. Lovely Jubbly! Book tickets from just £18 this summer.

Tennessee Williams’s last great play comes to the West End for a limited run starring Clive Owen, Lia Williams, Anna Gunn and Julian Glover. Thrown together for one eventful night at a remote coastal Mexican hotel, the only rise in temperature in the Noël Coward Theatre will be from the actors’ chemistry. Book tickets now from £21.

Set in the sunny climates of the Mediterranean, it would be easy with the heatwave to forget that we’re in London at all! Luckily, the Novello Theatre is equipped to keep you cool while you channel your inner dancing queen with this classic jukebox musical. Book tickets for this West End classic from just £18.

I have not gone to the theatre during the summer. My only visit was in the month of Feb. Two tours: Fiddler on the Roof in St. Louis and Miss Saigon in Charlotte.
I still don’t know if the last two will happen or not. Both being tours in Charlotte: Aladdin and Les Mis.
