Patricia Hodge joins the cast of A Day in the Death of Joe Egg. An Olivier Award winner known for her role as Penny in Miranda, Patricia Hodge made her West End debut in Pippin at The National Theatre. She has also appeared on Downton Abbey and A Very English Scandal. Starring Toby Stephens and Claire Skinner, A Day in the Death of Joe Egg runs at Trafalgar Studios from 21 September.
Joel Montague will replace Matt Cardle in Falsettos. Due to scheduling complications, Matt Cardle has had to pull out, but Joel Montague (Kiss Me Kate, School of Rock, Funny Girl, Urinetown) will replace him as Mendel. Falsettos makes its UK premiere at The Other Palace starting 30 August.
Peter Pan at the Troubadour White City Theatre will close 1 September. The National Theatre production of the play, adapted by Sally Cookson from J.M. Barrie’s classic novel, opened 20 July and will close earlier than expected.
Gatsby the Musical adds an extra performance night on 27 August. Due to the popularity of the concert performance, the show has added an extra night in addition to its performances on the 28th and 29th.
The New Zealand play Anahera will make its European premiere in London. Directed by Alice Kornitzer, Emma Kinane’s award-winning play will run for a limited season at the Finborough Theatre from 3 September. Anahera is about a Maori social worker who must help a grieving family when their 11-year-old son disappears.
