After launching regionally earlier this year, the stage adaptation of cult classic film Back to the Future is finally coming to London’s West End – and you can get your hands on tickets next week!
Back to the Future: The Musical is set to open at London’s Adelphi Theatre on 14 May 2021. Tickets will be going on general sale on Wednesday 16 September. Sign up here to be notified as soon as tickets are available.
The show originally opened to critical acclaim at the Manchester Opera House in February, but shows were halted soon after due to the pandemic.
Creators of the iconic 80s classic trilogy Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale adapted the story for stage. It is directed by the Tony Award-winning John Rando (Urinetown) and produced by Colin Ingram (Ghost — The Musical).
The West End show will feature music and lyrics by Emmy and Grammy Award-winning Alan Silvestri and six-time Grammy Award-winning Glen Ballard. It includes classic tunes from the soundtrack including The Power of Love and Johnny B Goode.
Christopher Lloyd, 81, who played Dr Emmett “Doc” Brown in the movie, and also starred in The Addams Family and Who Framed Roger Rabbit, said about the show coming to the West End: “I’m delighted that Back To The Future the Musical will be up and running in London in mid-May. I’ve heard nothing but great things about the show’s run in Manchester, so I’m excited to finally see it for myself.
“I’ve already heard some of the new songs and met many of the cast members, particularly Roger Bart who plays Doc, so I’m confident the stage version will be exactly what our fans have been hoping for. And, Great Scott, I can’t wait to hear Doc Brown sing!”
Gale said: “Bob Zemeckis and I are over the moon to finally be opening Back To The Future The Musical in the West End at the historic Adelphi Theatre, and we can’t wait for audiences to experience our show. I promise, everyone will be delighted with how we’ve translated the movie to the stage.”
